Athelas Therapeutic Riding operates under the direction of Head Instructor Anneliese Gilchrest, (BA, Therapeutic Horsemanship, St. Andrews Presbyterian College).
All lessons are conducted by Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) registered instructors or instructors in training, using horses selected for their dispositions and training to accommodate the special needs of our clients.
See http://www.pathintl.org/ for more information.
Therapeutic riding instructors design programs to foster responsibility and independence, build self-esteem and teamwork, and to improve social skills, eye-hand coordination, balance, muscle tone, posture, speech, communication, physical strength, and horsemanship, and to relieve stress and anxiety.
Athelas Therapeutic Riding program operates through the help of many dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please give us a call.
